Psycho-Pass Final thoughts.

When I watched the first episode of this anime I knew it had potential to be great and quite frankly I was not disappointed. Psycho pass is an anime which takes place in the future where the law is based on a computerized government system called Sibyl. The Sibyl system is judging people’s murderous intent and expressing it as a value called “Psycho-Pass. The plot resolves around Tsunemori Akane, a new investigator at the police force. This anime is superior in all the aspects: the stunning visuals, the cool fight scenes, awesome plot, great music and memorable characters.

I have a weird habit of liking the antagonist more than the protagonist and Psycho-Pass is no exception. The anime’s antagonist, Shogo Makishima, was by far my favorite character in the whole anime. If it weren’t for him, this anime wouldn’t have been this good. I could definetly relate to his goal of getting rid of the Sibyl system and he was definetly entertaining whenever he would kill someone, making me laugh like a maniac due to how evil this guy can be sometimes. But then again this is just me, so it may just be the total opposite for you.

The anime’s plot is definitely one of the best things, making you question yourself whether or not you would blindly follow such a system or oppose it. The most logical thing is oppose it which is what most of the characters did, even though not all of them had the courage to do it and just kept their thoughts hidden. The ending was satisfying but a bit too predictable for my tastes.

In conclusion, I give Psyscho-Pass a score of 8.5 out of 10 and strongly recommend you to watch it if you haven’t done it yet.

  1. Makishima was indeed a dark character. The way he manipulated others was scary in some aspects. His ways of reaching his goal were atrocious to say the least.
The setting wasn’t the most original, but the studio did their best to portray it in a unique way. Big brother elements, 1984 style were the most present in my eyes. Technological advancement, in this series, doesn’t mean its a good thing.
Maybe you could touch the animation part a bit for a next review:p
Other then that, it gives a brief opinion and plot for people who don’t know the series yet.

    • Hey thanks for the comment! I agree to setting is kind of a copy of Ghost in Shell from what I was told ( haven’t watched it yet) but it doesn’t matter to me as long as its good, and it definetly was. How do I say this? It’s one a rare jewel you rarely stumble upon but it’s not one of the most precious one’s i’ve encountered :P.

      • It didn’t spark that “this belongs in my top 10 anime” list in my case:p
It was good, but it wasn’t that gripping. I can’t explain why, maybe because a lot of elements of the story are familiar topics.

  2. Robert,
I thoroughly enjoyed your post about this anime; I went and watched it in one day. I really enjoyed the anime. Of course, the ending was just…cliche-ish, imo. Overall, thank you for introducing me to something awesome to watch after not having anything to watch in some time.

  3. I agree, Psycho-Pass was a very good anime, and I appreciated the break from all the moe crap that’s been dominating anime. Also I hope you don’t mind but I used one of these pictures in a blog post of my own about the show, but I linked to your site in its caption.

    • I agree with you. Most anime nowadays follow the same route: The typical protagonist which has absolutely no perverted thoughts, is kind and all girls are attracted to him yet he’s too shy to do anything about it. Or the typical cliche characters. I’m generally bored of seeing the same scenes with different anime characters its just deppresing.

So as I keep digging up this shit I sometimes stumble upon rare jewels ( like psycho pass) which completly makes the search worth. It wasn’t perfect but it did manage to get a place into my top 15 list ;).

Also there is no problem, you can take as much pictures as you want no need to link people to my site. Thanks for stumbling upon my humble blog 😀
